iOS: the app isn't in every App Store region

Tailscale isn't listed in the China App Store. It is available — and free — in the US, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. Pick either route below.

Option 1: create a new free Apple Account (recommended — leaves your current one untouched)

  1. In the App Store, tap Get on any free app, then choose "Create New Apple Account"
  2. Pick US, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan or Singapore, and enter an address in that region's format
  3. Set payment method to "None" — free apps need no payment details at all

Option 2: change the region of your existing Apple Account

  1. First spend your balance down to zero, cancel every subscription, leave Family Sharing, and let pre-orders and rentals finish
  2. Then go to account.apple.com → Personal Information → Country/Region and follow the prompts account.apple.com

⚠️ A region change may require a valid payment method for the new region and affects apps and subscriptions you already own. If you'd rather not touch your current account, use Option 1.

Tailscale · App Store

Phone & tablet

  1. Install Tailscale: on Android grab the package from the download section above; on iPhone / iPad use the App Store (needs a non-China Apple ID).
  2. ⚠️ If this device was ever signed in to a Tailscale account, tap the avatar and “Log Out” first — otherwise the option in the next step will not appear.
  3. Stay on the signed-out start screen, tap the “⋯” menu in the top right, choose “Use custom server” (some builds call it “Use an alternate server”), and enter the address above.
  4. Back on the start screen tap “Log in”. A browser opens — sign in with your RoyalShield account and confirm. You are in.

Computer

  1. Get the installer from the download section above — it's hosted here, no need to visit tailscale.com.
  2. Open a command line (PowerShell on Windows, Terminal on macOS / Linux) and run this (prefix with sudo on Linux):
    tailscale up --login-server=https://tsc.anyfq.com:18443
  3. A browser opens — sign in with your RoyalShield account and confirm. You're connected.

Choosing an exit region

Phone & tablet — open the Tailscale app, tap the menu in the top-right, choose Exit Node, and pick a region. Switching takes effect immediately.

Computer — run tailscale exit-node list to see what's available, then tailscale set --exit-node=<name> to switch (prefix both with sudo on Linux). The Tailscale icon in the Windows tray or the macOS menu bar also has an Exit Node submenu — one click, no commands.

To stop routing through an exit node, pick "None" in the app or menu, or run tailscale set --exit-node= with nothing after the equals sign. Only one exit region is active at a time.
